The Nutbrook Trail is a 9 mile (14km) route from Long Eaton to
Shipley Country Park of which horses may use the 4 miles (7km)
forming the former Stanton Branch Line and the route north of
Straws Bridge.

A useful book entitled Bed and Breakfast for Horses which lists places to keep a horse overnight can be purchased from the British Horse Society. The path is promoted by Amber Valley Borough Council, Erewash Borough Council, Sustrans and Groundwork Erewash Valley. The funding was supplied by British Waterways, Countryside Commission, Derbyshire County Council, English partnerships, Environment Agency, Erewash Borough Council and Sustrans. Railtrack, British Rail Property Board and Stanton plc have helped with licences on land.
