Essex County Council's publications describe the faciltiies as:
"Thorndon Country Park and Hartswood, linked with the treasures
of lesser-known sites, provide a large area of countryside for
you to enjoy. Walk in precious woods, historic parkland and
timeless commons. Experience atmospheric places charged with
a sense of history and filled with the scent of wildflowers
and the call of birds. Whether on foot, bicycle or horseback
you can enjoy the peace and wildlife of the Brentwood countryside."
For information about the route, contact the Ranger Service on 01277 211250. This section lists the Ordnance Survey maps at the two most useful scales, covering the area of the route. Clicking on any of them will enable the reader to purchase the map on line from Amazon. A useful book entitled Bed and Breakfast for Horses which lists places to keep a horse overnight can be purchased from the British Horse Society. Information about this and other country parks in Essex can be found on the Essex County Council website.
