The Essex County Council describes the route best! "The Flitch Way
passes through 15 miles of countryside along the former Bishop’s
Stortford to Braintree railway in the heart of rural Essex. Your
journey on foot, bicycle or horseback will take you though
wildlife-rich railway cuttings, past Victorian Stations, over
embankments with views across impressive farmlands, nearby villages
and woodland."
For information about the route, contact the Ranger Service on 01376 340262. This section lists the Ordnance Survey maps at the two most useful scales, covering the area of the route. Clicking on any of them will enable the reader to purchase the map on line from Amazon. A useful book entitled Bed and Breakfast for Horses which lists places to keep a horse overnight can be purchased from the British Horse Society. Information about this and other country parks in Essex can be found on the Essex County Council website.
